 Week 8

Lecture-

Following the Week 7 lecture, the instructor explained website CMS, or content management system. A CMS is a type of software that allows users to create, manage, and modify website content without requiring technical expertise. The instructor also highlighted WordPress, an open-source CMS. WordPress is a popular tool that enables individuals without coding experience to effortlessly build websites and blogs.

Additionally, the instructor showed a 20-minute YouTube video on how to use WordPress, covering the technical aspects that can be learned from the tutorial. The instructor also shared videos on website creation and common issues faced during the process, along with solutions and explanations. All these videos will be posted in Google Classroom for students to use as references.

Moreover, the instructor introduced several WordPress themes. The first theme, Astra, is a free minimalist theme with highly customizable options. The second theme, Monochrome, offers a one-click setup that quickly integrates plugins, demo content, and Gutenberg blocks. The third theme, OceanWP, can be easily developed and customized for various business needs. The fourth theme, Brisko, is an optimized minimal theme suitable for personal blogs, portfolios, businesses, and other minimalist websites. The fifth theme, Opta, is designed to elegantly display portfolio images. Lastly, the instructor presented Remake, a portfolio-focused minimalist theme intended to showcase the smooth and impressive layout of business or personal sites, delivering an inspiring user experience.

Practical -

In Week 8, the lecture assigned us to create a video showreel about ourselves and our portfolions. In my video , i included an introduction and a photo of myself at the beginning, followed by four portfolio pieces.

Week 1  Lecture- The first lecture session of this week is talking about some of the basic of the web design and some of the principles that students may use when they finish or start their assignments. First and foremost, the lecturer let the students start to create their blogs for the lecture class and practical class so that the students learn how to observe from the inspiration. Therefore, they can create an interesting website. The most important thing that the lecturer mentioned in the class is user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). User interface is all about the interaction and visuals such as the toggles, icons and other visual elements. Week 14

 Week 14 Lecture- In the lecture session of week 14, students showcased their work for Assignment 3, which involved designing websites for clients. Each group, including ours (Group 3 Group 1), presented the layouts and features of their respective websites. During the presentations, the website functionalities were demonstrated by navigating through different sections and highlighting key navigation features. Every student attentively observed and absorbed the presentations delivered by the different groups.

Week 7  Lecture - In week 7 lecture class, lecturer talk about the fundamentals of website layout. Website layout design is about balancing aesthetics with practicality. An effective website layout arranges information in a clear and logical sequence, ensuring coherence. It enhances visual appeal and directs users' attention to key elements. Furthermore, it contributes to branding by employing spacing, alignment, and scale strategically. The lecturer discussed the concept of visual hierarchy, which involves styling design elements to create contrast and emphasize specific content. Reading patterns, represented by directional lines, illustrate how users typically scan web pages. The fold marks the point where a web page is cut off due to screen size limitations.
